How to Make Toddler Tub Time Fun Again

So happy to share this blog post I created as a Suave Kids partner. The Disney, Frozen and Star Wars trademarks are used by Unilever pursuant to a license agreement with The Walt Disney Company. All rights reserved.

Ever since my girls were born, bath time has been a struggle. Sometimes for me, sometimes for them. When they were babies, I struggled with whether I should bathe them one at a time or together in the tub. If I bathed them together, I usually liked my husband to help. There were some serious logistics to work out! As they got older and could sit up on their own, they started to really enjoy bath time and beg to take baths. But sometime around a year ago, they started to hate bath time. I know a lot of it had to do with their hair – if I would put their hair up in a ponytail and just let them play, they would be as happy as mermaids. But if I had to actually wash their hair, they would cry and throw tantrums. Their long hair was causing some meltdowns between all three of us so I did some serious research on how I could make toddler tub time fun again!

Bath Toys That Stay In The Bath

It used to be that I would let them bring whatever toys they wanted in the bath. When I switched to having toys that could ONLY stay in the bath tub, it would make them look forward to the next bath time. My girls know they can only play with those toys when they get in the tub! We have fun toys like mermaids, small boats, bath crayons and of course a rubber duck!

Spark Their Imagination

Bath time is the perfect time to read a book to your toddler! My girls love when I read them a book and then I usually sit back while they let their imagination run wild. There’s just something about bath time that sparks their imagination! I love listening to them splash and make-up stories! Sometimes they will be running a cupcake shop out of the bathtub and other times I hear stories about mermaids escaping from under water dragons!

Let Them Wash Themselves

When doing my research on how to make bath time fun again, I read to let your toddlers wash themselves. This gives them a sense of ownership during bath time and you can use it as a fun learning tool too as you name body parts. Once I started letting my girls wash their own body with soap or even each other’s hair (anyone but mommy!) they got a lot more excited about getting clean and not just playing in the water.

Use Suave Kids® Products

Something else that has helped my girls get excited about bath time is Suave Kids® ProductsThis year, Suave Kids® is debuting new product lines and variants to make bath time a fun adventure with Mom-approved and kid-fun products! Bath time now becomes magical with the NEW Suave Kids® Disney Frozen collection! Once I brought out these fun bath products, my girls were ALL about bath time. The Suave Kids® Disney Collection not only smells great and makes bath time fun but it’s also  tear-free and dermatologist / ophthalmologist tested.

Here’s our new musts for bath time:

Disney Frozen Elsa 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner – I love that it’s a 2-in-1 because that means I’m saving time on a step that my girls don’t like. Their hair is so long and easily tangled but they love this strawberry scent and the fact that it leaves their hair so soft, silky and clean!

Disney Frozen Olaf 2-in-1 Shampoo + Body Wash in Icy Grape – This is another great product that saves me time and money and that my kids love! The bottle has Olaf on it which makes my girls giggle but they also love the fruity grape scent and that it cleans their hair AND their body!

Disney Frozen Anna Detangler Spray in Sparkle Berry – THIS is the product that is really allowing me to do their hair. In the past, brushing their hair was HARD. Everyone was crying – yes, even me! But now my girls love me spraying their “Anna spray” and then brushing their hair. Their hair smells BERRY delicious and makes it so smooth and manageable. It really can cut through those tough knots! We have had several compliments about their hair since we started using it!

Suave Kids® offers head-to-toe gentle products that are specially formulated for kids. It’s no surprise that Suave® is the #1 kids’ hair care brand! I love that the Suave Kids® Disney collections (also available in Star Wars in addition to Disney Frozen!) come in an easy to use pump bottle and are safe for everyday use. From head to toe, your little ones will be smelling great! The Suave Kids® Disney collections are available nationwide.
